Enfield Vision was founded in 1995 and it became a Registered Charity on 7 August 1997 with Charity Number 1063846. However, the Charities Act 2011 provides the option of registering as a "Charitable Incorporated Organisation" (CIO).
Charitable Incorporated Organisation status offers several benefits for a small charity like Enfield Vision. Keeping in view the benefits of becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Enfield Vision sought advice from Enfield Voluntary Action who suggested that under the provisions of the Charities Act 2011, Enfield Vision could consider changing its status from a "Charity" to a "Charitable Incorporated Organisation".
In view of the above advice and under section 6(b) of Enfield Vision's Constitution, an Extraordinary General Meeting was called on 16 January 2025 at Park Avenue Resource Centre. The Extraordinary General Meeting unanimously approved the resolution to change the status of Enfield Vision from a registered charity to a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
After receiving the approval of its members, Enfield Vision applied to register as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 18 June 2025.
We are pleased to update here that the Charity Commission approved Enfield Vision's application to register as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 22 July 2025 with the Chairty Number 1214225. Since that date, Enfield Vision has started its operation as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
